The old fire station at 200 East Depot Street holds 22,000 square feet. It's now a taproom, a kitchen, a small-batch brewhouse, a sports bar and a live music room, and it keeps its lights on until 10 p.m. six nights a week. That last detail matters most this year. Lenoir City's official holiday season is short, it happens mostly after dark, and most of it lasts about an hour a night.
The City's three free downtown events run from a Monday evening tree lighting on November 30 to an Evening with Santa on December 10. Before this fall, the end of the program usually meant the end of the night downtown. This December, a few blocks of the historic district have a sit-down room that stays open long after the last carol.
Tennessee Brew Works first announced the Lenoir City project in September 2022. WATE reported the plan to convert the former fire station into a taproom and manufacturing site, projected to open in spring 2024, with a courtyard, an expanded kitchen, a large private event space and live music.
Spring 2024 came and went. The grand opening finally happened on Friday and Saturday, August 28 and 29, 2026. In the grand-opening announcement published on Brewbound, founder and CEO Christian Spears called the opening "the culmination of vision, many years of hard work, and perseverance."
The people running it moved to town for the job. General Manager Jason Connelly relocated from Nashville, and so did Executive Chef Alex Leibow, who helped design the expanded kitchen. The brewing program is led by Head Brewer Clark Brandon, a ten-year Tennessee Brew Works veteran. For now the Lenoir City site runs a 5-barrel system for experimental and small-batch beers, with plans to scale up.
Its location ties it to the rest of downtown. The Lenoir City Farmers Market sits right next door on Depot Street, and the Barrel House is drawing on those farms as well as East Tennessee suppliers like Wampler's Farm Sausage, Sweetwater Family Farm and Benton's Smoky Mountain Country Hams & Bacon. The blue-and-white Lenoir City Museum building has stood behind Depot Street since 1890, as the News Herald has noted. The newest business downtown and one of the oldest buildings downtown share a street.
Lenoir City's 2026 holiday calendar starts Saturday, November 28 and wraps its last free downtown event on Thursday, December 10. Here's the full stretch, drawn from the City of Lenoir City special events page and the Visit Loudon County happenings calendar:
Two of those events are at The Venue on Creekwood Park Boulevard, and one is out at the lake. The three free City events, the tree lighting, the parade and Evening with Santa, all happen in the historic core along Broadway and B Street. Each lasts between an hour and ninety minutes, and each one ends while the evening is still young.
On every downtown event night, the Barrel House's regular hours cover the rest of the evening. The taproom is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., plus Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Here's how that lines up with the calendar:
| Downtown event | Ends | Barrel House open until | Weekly night the brewery advertises |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tree Lighting, Mon Nov 30 | 7 p.m. | 10 p.m. | Trivia Monday |
| Christmas Parade, Thu Dec 3 | Evening, start 6:30 p.m. | 10 p.m. | Karaoke Thursday |
| Evening with Santa, Thu Dec 10 | 7:30 p.m. | 10 p.m. | Karaoke Thursday |
The brewery lists Trivia Monday, Singo Bingo Tuesday and Karaoke Thursday among its regular nights. If that weekly lineup holds through the holidays, the tree lighting falls on a trivia night and both Thursday events fall on karaoke nights. A family can be home by bedtime after Santa, and a group of friends can make a night of it.
The menu is built for a crowd that just came in from the cold. The kitchen bakes its own beer breads and buns, makes an amber ale pizza dough with a saison pizza sauce, and serves the Five Beer Burger, which uses five of the brewery's beers. On tap you'll find familiar Tennessee Brew Works beers like Hippies & Cowboys IPA and State Park Blonde Ale, the official beer of the Tennessee State Parks. The building also shows college and pro games and has a large private event space, which is worth knowing if you're hosting a December office party or family gathering.
The brewery's live music schedule for Lenoir City is listed as coming soon. The music calendar on the main Tennessee Brew Works site is for the Nashville taproom on Ewing Avenue, so check the Lenoir City taproom page before planning around a band.
The parade runs along Broadway, and the same blocks hold the independent shops that make downtown Lenoir City a holiday shopping stop. The Downtown Merchants directory lists these businesses on the stretch:
Central Park, where the tree lighting happens, is at 307 East Broadway, so the shops and the park sit on the same street. Christmas with a Purpose falls on Saturday, November 28, which is also Small Business Saturday. That gives you a reason to spend the afternoon on Broadway before heading out to The Venue that evening.
The parade is the one event on the calendar where timing matters most. The City calls it a night when "thousands of families gather," and entries start lining up on South C Street at 5 p.m., an hour and a half before the 6:30 start. If you plan to grab dinner downtown, eating before the parade or settling in somewhere afterward will probably be easier than trying to get a table right as it ends. Thursday is a regular service night at the Barrel House, so the kitchen is open on either side of the parade.
For parade-day details like street closures or parking, check the City's special events page and the Visit Loudon County parade listing in the days before December 3. If you're thinking about entering a float, sign up early, since the City caps the parade at 75 entries.
When the downtown calendar wraps up, the season keeps going across town. The Venue's New Year's Eve Gala, presented by LCUB, runs from 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 31 to 1 a.m.
